Answers:

  • What items do you print?

We print the following items: business cards, postcards, greetings and Christmas cards, return address labels, notepads, white ceramic mugs, mouse mats, coasters, placemats, jigsaw puzzles, white t-shirts and polo shirts, teddy bears & teddy bear keyrings with white t-shirts. We do not currently print any items other than these. For prices and sizes please see the Printing page.

  • How do I order?

To order most items please use our orders page. We will email you back to confirm your request and your order details and check any details with you if these are not clear.
Alternatively you can send your order enquiry using our contact form.

  • How do I pay?

Payment can be made using PayPal, credit/debit card, or by cheque. We prefer PayPal or credit/debit card payments as this means we can process and print your order more quickly. If you are paying by PayPal we can send you a Payment Request when we receive your order. If paying by credit/debit card please use the Nochex or PayPal secure payment links on our orders page - you do not need a PayPal account to make a payment. If paying by cheque please send to: "AlgolOnline", The Cambria, Marine Terrace, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion SY23 2AZ.

Please note that orders are not printed until payment is received. Unfortunately we occasionally receive fraudulent orders and so it is our policy not to give credit. In order to receive your order more quickly we strongly suggest that you use PayPal or credit/debit card to pay for your order. Please note that we do not take print orders or payments by phone.

  • What image formats do you need?

We can take most image formats for printing. We prefer high quality jpegs, tiffs, Corel Paint files (cpt), Photoshop (psd) and Portable Network Graphics (png), eps. Please remember that the higher the quality of your original image the better the print quality. If your image is of a poor quality we cannot achieve a good print result for you. We reserve the right to refuse any order which cannot be printed to an acceptable quality. It is important that your image is large enough to printed at the size you require, you can check this by printing your image on a sheet of paper at the size your require - remember that the size your image appears on your monitor is not the size it will appear when printed. Image resolution should be 300-600dpi minimum. All printing dimensions are shown on the relevant item pages.

We cannot print directly from Microsoft Word and Publisher files, or .pdf files (pdf files can only be printed if they are the exact printing dimensions. We prefer not to use PDF format as results are variable. PDF files may be suitable if they are print ready, the image is the correct size and there are no registration marks or guides on the document). However we may be able to redraw a design which is sent in this format. There may be an additional charge if we need to redraw your design.

  • Can you match exact colours?

Unless we are supplying an image or design for you we print your items from the files you provide. In most cases the print colours will match your original image, however you should be aware that there can be a considerable difference in the colour profiles between different monitors and printers and the colour you see on your screen may not always be the same shade as the printed colour. If colour matching is critical, eg. a company logo, you should provide a printed sample with your order (eg. letterhead) so that we can ensure the print colour will be matched correctly. We are not able to match Pantone colours.

For best results please supply files for printing on stationery products in CMYK format and files for printing on dye-sublimation products (mugs, mouse mats, coasters etc.) in RGB format.

Please note that due to the heat transfer process involved there may be slight shade variations between separate print runs.

  • What are your delivery times?

Delivery times are normally within 5 - 10 working days of our receipt of your payment, but we suggest you allow at least 14 days. At busy times, eg. Christmas, this will take longer due to the volume of orders and the slower postal deliveries. If you require additional design work your order will take slightly longer. Small orders of mugs, mouse mats, coasters and placemats etc. will usually be delivered in less than 5 days.

Please note that Royal Mail does not consider an item to be lost until 15 days after the posting date.

There is no express printing service available on paper products.

Orders are sent out by Royal Mail first class post, or parcel post in the case of large orders.

  • Can you send me a sample?

Yes, certainly. We can send samples of business cards, postcards, greetings cards and labels. (Sorry - we do not send free samples of mugs, mouse mats or T-shirts due to high production and delivery costs) Please request samples using our contact form, don't forget to include your address. We reserve the right to refuse samples in certain circumstances, eg. bulk requests coming from "freebie" websites, as samples are intended for genuine enquiries only.

  • Can you send me a proof?

Yes - if you would like a layout proof for your order let us know and we will send a print proof by email. Note that this is for layout only and should not be used to check colour or print quality. Please check your proof carefully as AlgolOnline will not be responsible for any errors after the proof has been accepted. Please note that a proof is only available when you have placed and paid for your order. We will make up to 3 alterations to your proof at no additional charge. For larger orders we may decide to issue a hard-copy proof (i.e. the first mug, mousemat, coaster) first to double check the printing.

  • What are your card weights?

Cards are printed on 215gsm paper stock. Postcards and glossy-fronted business cards are a heavier weight due to their coating. If you are unsure of what the card weights mean, please request a sample before you place an order.

  • Can I order different quantities?

We only print business cards, postcards, return address labels and brochures in the quantities listed.

You can order any quantity of mugs, mouse mats and T-shirts etc. and there is no minimum order.

  • Can you give me a special quote?

Sorry - our prices are as shown on the Printing page. Having said that... if you are ordering several items or sets of cards we may be able to give you a lower quote due to a reduction in our p&p costs. Please email for a quote. From time to time we have special offers which are displayed next to the items on offer. Any repeat orders of an identical design to one we have printed for you before will be charged at 5% off the current list price.

Please note that an order for two sets of 500 business cards with different names etc. cannot be charged as one set of 1000 cards. Each card design is a separate print run regardless of whether it is ordered by the same customer.

Due to the printing method used for mugs, mouse mats, coasters and t-shirts etc. there is not a significant reduction in our costs for larger orders. The lowest price we charge for each item is shown on our pricelist and on individual item pages. We are not able to provide a lower price per item on larger orders than shown.

  • Do your prices include VAT and delivery?

Prices shown are all inclusive. There is no additional charge unless you require any extra design work.

  • Do you design logos?

Yes we do - either completely new, or a redesign based on something you already have, or a redraw of a design which is not of a suitable quality for printing.

Logo design is not included in the printing price and is priced depending on complexity, usually starting at around £75. Note that if you request a logo or a full card design this must be paid for whether or not you decide to order the printed items. Up to 3 alterations can be made to the logo design at no additional charge.

  • Can you print an image I've saved from a website?

Usually an image saved from a website is not large enough or of sufficient quality for printing, unless the image is specifically designed to be used for printing purposes. You can check this by printing the image on a sheet of paper using a desktop printer. Please note that if you do not own the image you should ensure that you have permission to use the image for your intended purpose.

  • What is your returns policy?

If it's our mistake we will always reprint your order or refund your payment if required.

We check all orders before they are despatched, but if you find that there is any fault with your order due to misprinting, please return the faulty order and we will reprint this for you at no extra charge.

However, please note that in most cases (unless we have provided the design or images for you) we are printing the images that you have supplied to us. If the original is not of sufficient quality we cannot guarantee a good print reproduction - we will let you know if this is the case before we print your order.

IMPORTANT NOTE: no refunds will be given where mistakes exist in the original images or documents supplied to us (eg. incorrect spellings), where the original images supplied to us are of poor quality, or where customers have not checked that the items ordered are what is required (eg. business card weights)
